What happened to Leslie Shay?

Sadly, Shay must have died precisely because she was so popular.

Fans were shocked when Shay was suddenly taken out of the Chicago Fire script.

The popular TV series, filled with tragedy and twists and turns, killed Shay with an unexpected tragic death.

Viewers were sad to learn that such a beloved paramedic would never return.

Executive producer Matt Olmstead explained to TV line that they intended to shock fans with Shay’s sudden death.

He explained, “As we walked in, we knew that if we were going to do it, it had to be for someone who was going to give us a big impact, as opposed to a lesser known character, which would amount to a fist pulled.

“So instead of approaching it shyly, we thought about going.”

Olmstead admitted it was a tough decision, but in the end they chose to kill Shay “because it affected the most people.”

TV initiate noted, “The fire station hasn’t been the same” since Shay’s untimely death.

They said fans still miss “Shay and Severide’s friendship” and “there hasn’t been another like this in the One Chicago universe, and there probably never will be.” .
