The Live in HD season kicks off with the Russian epic Boris Godunov, with German bass René Pape

DENVER, October 5, 2021 / PRNewswire / – For the first time since February 2020, the opera live from the Met’s stage returns to theaters this Saturday with the new season of The Met: Live in HD, the Metropolitan Opera’s Peabody and Emmy Award series of operas in theaters around the world. At saturday 9 october, german bass René Pape takes up her acclaimed take on the title role of Mussorgsky’s Russian historical drama Boris Godunov, which premiered at the Met in its original version from 1869. Running a little over two hours and presented without an intermission, that of Stephen Wadsworth the production is captivating and cinematic, brilliantly capturing Boris’ inner turmoil and the hope and suffering of the oppressed Russian people. Maestro Sebastien weigle steps onto the podium to lead an exceptional ensemble cast, and the soprano Angel Blue hosts the transmission.
