The late actor Paul Sorvino and his wife Dee Dee Benkie announced their marriage in 2015 and shared a little piece of their romance with Fox News’ Neil Cavuto after they first met in the Green Room during separate appearances on the network.

Sorvino, known for his roles in “Goodfellas” and “Law & Order,” died Monday at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla., of natural causes. He was 83 years old.

The Hollywood icon, who was a regular on Fox channels, returned to “Your World with Neil Cavuto” in January 2015 announcing that he was officially married again after a surprise New York wedding to his wife, Dee Dee, a political strategist.

Cavuto introduced the couple who “started out as guests on my Fox commercial show” before declaring, “They just got married, and nobody knew about it, did they?”

“We ran away standing in front of the Lincoln Center fountain where I sang at the MET and sang at the New York City Opera,” he told Cavuto.

“No one in your family knew about it?” Cavuto confirmed. “How do they feel now?”

Dee Dee quickly replied, “They’re happy.”

“The plan was if we told one person, we had to tell everyone,” Paul said. “As soon as the ceremony was over, I started calling my family and telling them.”

Cavuto joked, “It’s funny, you never called me. You know, it’s so weird…I hooked you up. Not even a call or anything!”

Dee Dee laughed while confirming that it was the reporter who started their love match. “You are responsible! »

Paul remembered seeing Dee Dee in the Green Room as they waited to appear separately on different time slots, a sight he would never forget.

“I saw her…she was wearing this beautiful blue dress and she had an aura around her,” he said. “I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. What I saw, what it was…I said, ‘Oh my god.’ I said, ‘That’s going to be all for me.'”

Their first date at the famed Del Frisco steakhouse was equally memorable.

Sorvino recalls feeling an instant connection with Dee Dee, a former political aide to President George W. Bush, during the romantic evening, and even putting his arm around Dee Dee during dinner.

“At some point I realized she didn’t hate me,” he joked, while she added, “He didn’t care.”

When Cavuto asked Dee Dee why she chose Paul, her answer came easily.

“He’s the real renaissance man,” she said, adding that he’s a “wonderful cook, very gentle, so smart, he sings, plays the piano…”

She liked that he was “a little older” and she said her family in Indiana were equally thrilled to welcome him into their lives.

Sorvino recalled how he chased Dee Dee for a year, something he had “never done” before, and after a performance of “King Lear” sought her out in the audience to give her a big thumbs up. fuck in public.

Sorvino was also the father of three children from his first marriage, including Mira, 54, an Oscar winner. He also directed and starred in a film written by his daughter, Amanda Sorvino, which starred his son, Michael Sorvino.
