Meghan Markle discusses ‘very intimate’ costume scene in 2013

Before her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, 37, Meghan rose to prominence as an actress in the popular American legal drama Suits. After joining the show in 2011, for seven years the Duchess of Sussex, 40, played the role of Rachel Zane, who worked at a large law firm in New York.

His character started out as a paralegal and eventually became a lawyer.

Meghan’s story on the show ended with her character marrying Mike Ross, played by Patrick J Adams.

Now Tara Emad, 28, will star in Suits Arabia as Rachel Zane, the Duchess’ former role, while Ahmed Dawood will play her love interest Mike.

Apart from having worked on Arab films before, Tara also has her own podcast and a very successful modeling career and has also amassed 2.2 million followers on Instagram.

Tara was born in Cairo and started modeling at just 14 years old and won Miss Teen Egypt in 2010.

Since then, she’s worked on nine films, 11 TV shows, and featured in over 50 magazines, including big names in the industry like Elle Middle East and Vogue Italy.

She is also very prolific in the fashion world, having been front row at Chanel’s Cruise Collection fashion show in Dubai in November.

She has also appeared in international campaigns for fashion brand H&M.

Alongside her busy modeling career, Tara is studying Applied Arts and Sciences at the German University in Cairo.

While Tara and the Duchess of Sussex portray the same character in different adaptations of the TV series, the women also share a number of other similarities.

Like Meghan, Tara is an advocate for women’s rights and has spoken out against bullying.

Both women are also passionate about animal rights – Tara has partnered with dog rescue charities, and Meghan is also the godmother of animal welfare charity Mayhew.

Meghan also adopted two puppies herself – she adopted a beagle called Guy while living in Toronto while filming Suits, and Pula the Labrador, whom she adopted while living in London with the prince Harry.

Tara has previously shared photos of herself visiting Hope Animal Shelter in Cairo “to raise awareness of the beauty of adopting a dog” and has also given her support to the Egyptian Society for Animal Mercy.

The Duchess and Tara also share a passion for yoga, and the latter regularly shares her practices with her fans.

While the Duchess, whose mother Doria was a former yoga teacher, has previously claimed yoga is ‘her thing’ and is ‘in her blood’.

Additionally, the Duchess and Tara have launched a series of podcasts over the past two years.

Tara’s podcast which launched last year is part of her graduation and explores why bullying happens.

Speaking to Cosmo Middle East about the project, she explained, “The podcast started as my university project, it was my bachelor thesis project, and so far all nine episodes have been produced, recorded and edited by me.

“I used the quarantine time to do a lot of research and learn more about podcasts, bullying and bullying prevention programs. We don’t have bullying prevention programs in schools in Egypt, but that’s what I hope to see in the next few years.

While Meghan launched the first episode of the Archewell Audio podcast series with husband Harry on Spotify in 2020.

When announcing their project, Harry and Meghan promised to present shows that would “celebrate kindness and compassion” and “promote different voices and perspectives, which you have never heard before”.

The Arabic adaptation of the legal drama Suits also features other very famous actors in the Middle East, including Asser Yassin and Saba Mubarak.

Meghan stepped back from her acting duties when she took on responsibilities as a member of the Royal Family.

Instead, she supported the royal family’s charitable initiatives and took part in a number of royal appearances and trips.

In 2020, the Duchess made a small return to the world of cinema, telling Elephant, a Disney documentary.

Previously, she had held several acting roles, the most recent seeing her starring in Hallmark Channel TV movies in 2014 and 2016, and the Hungarian-British crime film Anti-Social in 2015.
