Kate Middleton’s nod to the love story between her and Prince William

Kate Middleton gave a nostalgic nod to the romance between her and Prince William as she wore 11-year-old boots again during their recent visit to Wales.

Kate Middleton’s dresses and suits often steal the show and the Duchess of Cambridge loves her stunning outfits as much as her fans, recycling them multiple times for major engagements and giving them a fresh twist. In May last year, Kate’s romantic nod to Prince William via her choice to wear a meaningful blouse again caught our attention. And who could forget the lilac dress she rocked for the Earthshot Prize 2021 Awards when Prince William and Kate’s “nice PDA” delighted fans.

Now, for their recent joint engagement in Wales, Duchess Kate once again rummaged through her closet for a much-loved 2011 staple. And it had an equally sweet connection to her and the love affair of the Prince William.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge traveled to Wales on March 1 to embark on a busy schedule of engagements, including a visit to Abergavenny Market as well as the Blaenavon Heritage Centre. Here they chatted with fans, planted a tree, and Kate’s weird trait was even revealed by her husband. For the engagement, Kate opted for basic Meghan Markle style with a khaki green coat and a sleek turtleneck in a matching earthy hue.

She paired them with dark jeans and black heeled ankle boots which are considered Aquatalia Rouge boots. This stunning choice not only worked perfectly with her two-tone outfit, but also paid a sweet tribute to her and Prince William and his time in the royal family.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore these same ankle boots in February 2011 when she embarked on her very first engagement. At the time, Kate was engaged to her future husband and two months away from their spectacular royal wedding.

She and Prince William visited Trearddur Bay lifeboat station together to officially launch the RNLI’s new Hereford Endeavor lifeboat. This time, she wore the boots with a simple yet elegant beige coat, black tights and a matching black scarf, already keeping things on tone with her outfits.

Following this, Kate reportedly wore the boots again several times early in her marriage for one of her first solo engagements as she got more used to life as a royal.

The decision to wear boots again from her very first official engagement – likely a big moment for her – is incredibly meaningful. So did the two engagements in Wales, with her and Prince William set to one day become Prince and Princess of Wales.

For any eagle-eyed fans who spotted these decade-plus boots on St. David’s Day, Kate Middleton’s boots could have brought a huge sense of nostalgia to this important occasion.
