Celebrate the golden tickets, the oompa loompas, the pure imagination with the cast for the 50th anniversary of “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory”

HOLLYWOOD – The original 1971 version of “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Family” celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Gene Wilder brought Willy Wonka to life in a film based on the children’s novel “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. Five lucky kids who find gold tickets in their chocolate bars win a special candy factory tour … and maybe more.

Peter Ostrum, who played Charlie Bucket, believes loyal viewers will get something new and fresh by watching the movie again.

“It’s one of the joys of seeing this movie. Every time you see it, you see something new,” Ostrum said. “A child can see it. They will see something. A teenager will see something. And people our age will see it and they will see something completely different.”

You could say that about the 50th anniversary edition of the film. It’s in 4K Ultra HD. Paris Themmen, who played Mike Teevee, explains.

“They improved the HD quality in resolution, color and sound. And, really, what they were looking for is closest to what you would have seen if you had been there that day,” said Themmen.

Half a century later … it’s a popular movie classic. But Julie Dawn Cole, who played Veruca Salt, said it didn’t start that way.

“Willy Wonka like, you know, childhood stuff and ‘Willy Wonka’ didn’t do very well at the box office at the time, so it came and went and was forgotten,” Cole said.

“And I’ve always said it to my friends and family, here I made the movie” Willy Wonka “20, 30, 50 years ago and it was a lot of fun and it’s very famous in USA… in Germany at all! ”Exclaimed Michael Bollner, who played Augustus Gloop.

The three main boys in the film never acted again. But the experience has been a pure joy for decades.

“I’m driving around town in a blue Tesla with a Mike Teevee license plate. So, LA, if you see me, don’t hesitate to honk your horn and say hello!” said Themmen.

This 50th anniversary edition will be available on June 29.
