Apple TV + Hires Seasoned Producer as Creative Director for Germany | News

Apple TV + has appointed seasoned producer Dr Franziska An der Gassen as Creative Executive for Germany, to Jay Hunt’s European team.

A producer with over two and a half decades of experience, Der Gassen has recently held a myriad of television and film roles Rat Pack Filmproduktion, the Munich label of German independent film and television giant Constantin Film.

The prolific creator has produced, developed and co-produced over 50 TV series and films, including socio-political TV dramas The placebo effect, characteristic Grumpy Olaf, Italian religious drama in two parts Married and romantic comedy A question of size.

She will report to Hunt, although the exact details of her responsibilities are under wraps. It’s not yet clear if der Gassen’s appointment fills the scripted executive role Broadcast revealed that Apple TV + was researching last year.

Her appointment is the most recent to emerge from European Creative Director Hunt, following the arrival of BBC factual chief Alison Kirkham in 2020 with more European nominations planned.

Apple TV + has compiled its list of originals from Europe. At the end of last year, Broadcast reported that Twofour was tied with Schitt Creek star Eugene Levy for his first Apple order, travel diary The reluctant traveler.

This completed a growing list of talented Apple TV + unscripted shows, including another travelogue. Long way to the top with Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman; musical documents Watch the sound with Mark Ronson and Billie Eilish: The world is a little blurry; and documentaries to come The models and Number one on the call sheet with Jamie Foxx, Kevin Hart, Datari Turner and Dan Cogan.

SVoD is also preparing dramas produced in the UK Slow horses and The Essex Serpent, both from See-Saw Films, Keshet Productions’ Suspicion, a remake of the Israeli smash False flag and the Anglo-French thriller from Ringside Studios Connection.
